'Zombieland' TV Series in Negotiations

Fans of the movie 'Zombieland' will be happy to learn that the Fox network is looking to develop the 2009 movie into a TV series. Although fans have been waiting for a follow-up to be announced, it has looked less and less likely that a theatrical sequel would occur. If a TV series is to be developed, a sequel is definitely out of the picture. Since the script was originally written as a TV series, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick already have a basic plan mapped out, which is promising. As of now, the series is being developed as a half-hour show that would roll-out for the 2012-2013 season. Until Fox and Sony Pictures Television sign a deal nothing is official so look for more information about this project to come.
Hesitant at first to watch 'Zombieland', I was immediately engrossed in the acting, humor, and plot. I think the TV series would work well with the writing styles of Reese and Wernick. I can only hope they cast the right actors to carry out the story. Also, like the movie, the series would have to focus on more than just the zombie aspect. An intriguing plot and relatable and likable characters are going to be just as important as the graphics and the dark humor.
